Goals check for the week of May 20

Happy Memorial Day!  I have a rare day off today, where I don't nanny OR babysit at any point during the day, but I do plan on getting some work done here at home (novel work).  I hope everyone else is enjoying their holiday.

Last week felt quite busy, but also surprisingly productive, considering how many other demands on my time I had.  I still haven't gotten around to working on my websites or blogs, not to mention some of the other writing projects I wanted to work on this year, but I got a lot done on my novel -- the thing I want to be most productive on.

1. Novels: Like I said, I was pretty productive on this count.  I worked on marking revisions four days -- Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday -- and accomplished quite a bit every one of those days except Wednesday (I only marked up one page that day).  I was also working on a part of the novel that needed a lot more work than usual, lots of sections that needed rewriting and/or rearranging, so I feel pretty satisfied with the amount of work I got done this week.

2. Blogs and websites: No progress here.

3. Other writing projects: No progress here.

4. Books: I am still planning on going back to Les Miz once I finish my current read, but it's taking a little longer than I had planned.  Part of this is because I'm spending some of my evenings working on my novel instead of reading, though, so that's okay.

5. Horses: I rode Panama briefly on Friday, and found that he is still feeling pretty energetic -- he was rarin' to go!  V., the girl I nanny for, had a lesson on Saturday, and although my Friday ride seemed to have taken some of the excess energy out of him, he was still pretty fired up.  My trainer also rode Rondo for me on Thursday -- part of the reason I got so much done on my novel last week was actually because she agreed to ride him without me while I stayed home and worked.  Those were the only days the horses saw any action during the week or over the weekend, unfortunately.

I was a bit less than successful with most of my goals this week, especially my horse goals.  The horses should get a lot more riding the next couple of weeks, though -- the challenge will be to keep up my productivity in the other areas at the same time!

Love that you've named your horse Vidhya. I have a friend with that name. :)

I like the idea of a list and doing a regular assessment. It's kept me on track financially more times than I can count. I've not thought to do the same for my novel writing, but you've just reminded me to. Thanks. :)

Oh! No, that's the older girl I take care of. I usually just call her V. in the posts because I am (probably overly) worried about people's privacy when I post about them, but I forgot this time. It's changed now!

I am liking the regular assessment too. Sometimes it feels like I'm falling short each week, but then I think the assessment keeps me from falling even shorter -- because I do it on Mondays (usually), it refocuses me for the week to come. Which really is the point, isn't it?

LOL! Sorry to compare her to a horse. It's a compliment in my book, but maybe not hers. :)

That is the point -- I agree!

Ha! No, she would find it a compliment too. She is about as horse crazy as a kid can get. :o)
