Sorry for the lack of posts -- I had a crazy busy week. Sometimes I should be better at telling people no, I think, but I'm not always very good at that, especially if it carries with it the promise of money. This past week has been a prime example of how that can be both a good and a bad thing.
My first day of crazy was mainly because Presidents' Day is a weird holiday, since kids get it but a lot of their parents don't, so I worked all day for one of my families. Then I found out that another of my families had to take their two-month-old preemie to the hospital for observation because his cold was interfering with his breathing so much. So for much of the week, I babysat for their three-year-old child (the one I've been taking back and forth to preschool in the mornings, except this week he didn't have school) on top of my regular after-school nanny job.
The good part is that I helped a family who really needed it, and of course that I made a whole lot of extra cash that I can most certainly find a use for. The bad part is that I was so busy all week that I was quite tired and put off all my client work until this weekend. Mother Nature pitched in and offered up a major snowstorm to keep me home all weekend so that I could work, so I quite happily canceled all my plans for the weekend. I have a lot of work to do, but I'm also hoping to do some reading and drinking of hot chocolate in honor of being snowed in.
Next week should be a good deal easier, and I am very much looking forward to that. It'll be nice to feel like I've regained a bit of normality in my freelancing schedule, and also to have some time for other things like reading and riding!
