I love being a writer and I love freelancing. Don't get me wrong. But along with the feast-or-famine income, there are insanely busy days to offset the days where you can rearrange your schedule to, say, get your oil changed or have lunch with a friend who's in from out of town.
Today has been one of the former kind, the insanely busy variety, and it's not over yet -- I'm just here to take a brain break
I actually ended up having to rearrange my schedule in order to devote the day to meeting deadlines. I'm just grateful that today, of all days, I could do that, since I'm off from my nanny job this week.
Once I rescheduled one commitment and canceled another, basically clearing my afternoon, the panicky feeling went away and I was able to relax and enjoy what I love most about freelancing -- staying home and writing. It was a rainy afternoon, so once I turned the AC off and opened the windows I could hear the rain, and that helped to relax me too.
I also have the munchies now, which I find often happens when I work from home, especially when I'm stressed and need a brain break. The kitchen is far too close.
I still have a lot left to do today, but at least I don't feel like my entire day is coming down around my ears!
How do you get through the days when the deadlines are looming?
